you will need to make these delish bundles.
6 bacon strips diced1 cup chopped onion
1 can (16 ounces) sauerkraut, drained
½ pound kielbasa sausage or polish sausage coarsely chopped
2 tbsps. Brown sugar
½ teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon caraway seed
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 egg Beaten
1 cup warm water
2 Tablespoons butter softened
Poppy seeds
In a skillet, cook bacon until crisp, remove and drain on paper towel save 2 Tablespoons drippings and sauté onions, garlic salt, sauerkraut, kielbasa, brown sugar, caraway seed and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, add bacon and set aside to cool.
In a bowl combine the contents of hot roll mix. Stir in the egg, water and butter to form a soft dough. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Cover the dough with a tea towel for 5- 10 minutes just to give it a rest. Now divide into 16 pieces.
On a floured surface, roll out each piece into a 4 inch circle. Top with ¼ cup of filling fold. Fold dough around filling, forming a ball pinch edges to seal. Place seam side down on greased baking sheets. Cover loosely with a clean tea towel. Let rise in a warm place for 15 minutes.
Brush with egg and sprinkle with poppy seeds.
Bake in preheated 350 degrees oven for 16-17 minutes or until golden brown. I have taken these to a party or we have had them for dinner alongside a simple salad. I hope you enjoy them as much as my family does
